LIVE Updates: New Bern vs Havelock

Two undefeated teams will do battle on Bobby Curlings field inside of Caruso-Coates Stadium. The longstanding rivalry between the New Bern Bears and Havelock Rams will be renewed for the first time since the 2019 season.

The last time these two Craven County programs met was on August 30th, 2019, in the first season under Coach Nowell; the Bears beat the Rams 28-13. New Bern’s ground attack was critical last time out; New Bern saw success in the run game early and often to the tune of 363 yards rushing on 62 carries. On the flip side, Havelock mustered 157 yards on 25 carries.

Fast-forwarding back to 2021, Havelock is fresh off a win over fellow Craven County high school West Craven. The Rams beat the Eagles 27-13. The Rams offense threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns while completing nine of ten passes. New Bern, on the other hand, comes off an impressive come from behind victory against Maury. The Bears entered the fourth quarter down 14-6 to the Commodores before turning in a 23-point fourth quarter that saw New Bern fend off Maury with a 29-27 win.
